The King of Propaganda--The Godfather of Spin
"Our minds are molded, our tastes are formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we've never heard of"
Edward Bernays
Are you familiar with Edward Bernays? I wasn’t until recently, which prompted me to delve deeply into his work. My findings were revealing and underscored the fact that we’ve been subject to propaganda for decades if not centuries. Bernays is often referred to as the father of public relations. In 1928, he published his groundbreaking work, Propaganda, arguing that public relations is not a gimmick but a necessity.
Bernay’s Distant Connection to Netflix
Netflix was founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph. Hastings is the great-grandson of Alfred Lee Loomis and Ellen Holman Farnsworth. Loomis was an investment banker and scientist involved in developing radar and the atomic bomb and also helped create the electroencephalogram. His laboratory was a meeting place for famous scientists like Einstein and Heisenberg. His cousin, Henry L. Stimson, was the Secretary of War for Taft, FDR, and Truman. Stimson was also Secretary of State for Hoover, who oversaw the Manhattan Project, which created the atomic bomb.
The second founder of Netflix, Marc Randolph, has connections that are perhaps even more wild and telling. Randolph’s great-great uncle is Sigmund Freud, and his great-uncle is Edward Bernays! Yes, THE Edward Bernays.
Why does this connection to Netflix matter? It matters because Netflix is the king of predictive programming. House of Cards is Netflix’s first major original series, and it’s a tool to make people comfortable with the fact that the government is corrupt and completely manipulated. The Netflix movie Athena begins with a boy who was beaten to death by French police. The victim’s brother then rallies Algerians for an insurrection in their French city, which prompts the deployment of riot police. At that point, the violence escalates to chaotic levels, and the riots grow out of control across the country. This is nearly identical to the real-life scenario of riots that played out in France in 2022 when police killed 17-year-old Nahel Merzouk. Coincidence? Maybe. I could go on about Netflix and its predictive programming with several movies and series about virus outbreaks and pandemics, but you get the point.
Back to Bernays! He helped elect presidents, convinced the public to support America's involvement in WWI, and agitated the Guatemalan coup. He’s behind modern-day norms, such as eggs and bacon as the classic American breakfast. He is also known to be the force behind fluoridated water and fluoride in our toothpaste.
Bernays’ publicity campaigns were the stuff of legend. To overcome sales resistance to cigarette smoking among women, Bernays staged a demonstration at the 1929 Easter parade, having fashionable young women flaunt their "torches of freedom."
A very influential man, indeed.
Listen to this short audio and hear the first paragraph from his book, Propaganda, and you’ll fully understand his influence.
If you had any doubt about our ‘controller’s attempt to manipulate society for their benefit, doubt no more. I often say about people who continue to be good little sheep and take all their boosters or about people who celebrate men competing in women’s sports, “They do not author their own thoughts!” Mind control is real, and we’re all susceptible to it. Be mindful and question EVERYTHING!
