Regardless of what happens in the world we, as individuals, must be prepared, spiritually: "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. (Matthew 24:6-8)"
The world will, in time, get its peace, but it will be a false peace: "While they are saying 'Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape (1 Thess. 5:3)."
"So then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober (1 Thess. 5:6)."
We have not been left in the dark. Our Father has seen to it that we are able to understand what is happening, and why it is happening. The world cannot take our inheritance of eternal life, which we possess as believers: "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, no angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39)." As a believer, I know that my path has been chosen for me by the Creator of the universe, and that He will be with me, to comfort me, until I rest in peace.
Yes, blessed are the peacemakers.
